From the Cafe Bund Library: An Appeal to Jewish Socialists and Diasporists, Wherever You Are

Since July 2024, the Cafe Bund project has organized a library in the Ogniwo Cooperative in Kraków, Poland. We started off with a dozen or so books on a single shelf - as of December 2024, there are nearly 200 on two full shelves, with more in a special storage site. You can find the catalogue here.

This is only the beginning of our work. We are working on greater interconnectedness with existing libraries, as well as the establishment of new library spaces, in Kraków and elsewhere.

For that, we need your help.

We are not asking for financial donations at this moment. What we ask for are contributions to the library. If you have any books, pamphlets, zines, periodicals, etc. that you would like to donate to us, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH. Whether it be a single book or many, we will find a way. We welcome items in any language, and we are working on our PDF collection.

WE ARE INTERESTED IN:

Anything even remotely connected to the Bund or Bundism;

Jewish Leftist Periodicals, zines, pamphlets or similar publications, Contemporary or Old.

We are also very interested in items that relate to (in alphabetical order):

• Anarchism, Socialism and Libertarian Socialism
• Antisemitism
• Collective Liberation and Intersectionality
• Contemporary Jewish Life
• Contemporary Jewish Culture (Poetry, Literature, Fashion, Music, etc.)
• Diasporism
• Environmentalism, Housing Rights and Liveable Cities
• Israel-Palestine
• Jewish History
• Non-Ashkenazi Jewish History, Life and Culture
• Yiddish Language Resources

We keep a record of all our books and our donors, so we can always return them to you. We do not rent out our books – our shelf in Ogniwo operates as a reading room, and all rare and precious items will be taken care of with utmost caution.
